The College of Social Sciences at National Chengchi University
has long been reputed well in various disciplines of social sciences.
The rich experience in research and education on China related studies
has given the College the strength to introduce the comprehensive
program: International Master's Program in China Studies.
Dr. Kao An-pan, the Dean of the College of Social Sciences, said,
" the program is designed to be a comprehensive two-year English
taught program with central emphasis on the economic, cultural,
political, ethnic and spatial developments of China. To enhance
the richness of the program, an additional emphasis is placed on
the global systemic influences of China's re-emergence."
Students and professionals, notwithstanding their areas of specialization,
are encouraged to join the program and benefit from it. The classes
will be conducted by eminent academicians with years of teaching
and research experience in the field of China study.
The required courses of the program include: Economic Development
of Mainland China, Political Development of Mainland China, Social
Development of Mainland China, Spatial Development of Mainland China,
Ethnic Development of Mainland China and International Status of
Mainland China.
"Students enrolled in this program must take 36 credits to
fulfill the graduation requirements; among them, 18 must be from
the required courses and 18 from the electives. The electives should
focus on at least 2 academic tracks," Dr. Kao said. A Master's
thesis is also required and should be written in accordance with
the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education and by our
school.
The composition of the first intake of students for the program
is 15 foreigners and 30 locals. "All applicants must possess
a college-level education equivalent to or more than a four-year
R.O.C. baccalaureate degree. A one-year post-bachelor degree working
experience is also required for both local and foreign students,"
Dr. Kao added.
Foreign students must submit their completed Application Forms
along with all other required documents within the period February
